My Mother Said She Never Liked that Name for a Girl Anyway
I believe that the author remedies for recovery are the only option for African Americans. Due to the lack of recovery for the New Orleans resident, we know that no one is in a big hurry to help African Americans. I feel that it is a good idea that Black organizations and communities develop independent local self-help community-based plans and procedures because then they know that they will be better taken care of when a tragedy like this happens again. I feel that they could be a part of our nation's overall economic recovery in the coming decades if these organizations show that they can be helpful to the African American people.

I agree that it is a good idea that independent and autonomous organizations should be created. However, I am not very hopeful that they can be created and sustained, and I also think that the authors miss a much bigger question when they start with a premise that rejects or reduces any government role. Black New Orleanians and black citizens in other cities and towns in this country) paid and continue to pay taxes at all levels of government, paid and continue to pay for insurance policies, have raised and continue to raise private funds as well, but they cannot and should not be held responsible alone for the recovery of the city--especially when they are still struggling to rebuild their lives.
